The yoga at Maitri is mainly derived from Hatha, with some classic Hatha classes an others with a twist. We use the Hatha Yoga method because it's all about balance for your body and mind. Hatha Yoga classes at Maitri Fitness give your life balance, to manage stress and live pain free.
A quick description of our current classes that we have at our North Manly yoga studio is:
Hatha Yoga: – General, multi-level class that's adapted to suit you, some static poses, some dynamic moving with breath.
Best for: Overall health and wellbeing, to control stress, reduce pain, increase flexibility and strength, to improve sports and fitness performance.
Gentle Yoga & Meditation: – Slow, floor-based yoga moves to breath and holding poses. Simple, short meditations, usually via guided visualization and Yoga Nidra.
Best for: Stress, anxiety and pain management. Relaxing, releasing and realigning your body.
Pure Core Yoga/Pilates: Strong core and pelvic floor control.
Best for: Increasing core strength, improving posture, reducing back pain and incontinence.
Pure Flexibility Yoga: From gentle to intense flexibility – depending on your level.
Best for: Increasing your range of movement.
55+ Yoga: Gentle Hatha poses using lots of props for modifications.
Best for: Those over 55 years with limited mobility. Balance, strength and flexibility maintenance.
Power Vinyasa: Dynamic class where poses are linked with your breath, with varying order of poses.
Best for: Increasing strength, stamina, weight loss.
Tai Chi: Moving meditation, a gentle form of standing exercise with deep breathing and focus.
Best for: Relaxation, stress management.
Beginners Yoga: A slower-paced class with allowances for questions and more thorough break-down of techniques being used.
Best for: Those new to yoga.
