At the end of the year we tend to start to wind down a little, so why not watch something fun while you're waiting to do something productive. It made me smile and I hope it makes you smile too... Namaste
Wow - how have I not ever seen this gymnastics event before? I've always favoured the floor work and now that I know there is group floorwork I know I'm going to have to limit my Youtube watching if I want to get anything else done!
The strength and flexibility of these girls is absolutely amazing and something that I aspire to. Through yoga I have increased my flexibility dramatically and I mainly use kettlebells as my strength training, alongside pole dancing, yoga and other weights.
These gymnasts have a gruelling training regime and their dedication and motivation is something else.
I can't get enough of watching their pyramid balances, so get ready if you come to yoga, I'll be doing some more work on my acro yoga so that we can have more balancing fun ourselves.
After taking a little time out from Facebook - shock horror, yes that's still an option these days - I took a peek and the second thing I saw was that my beautiful sister had nominated me to do the #icebucketchallenge.... of all days, on my 35th birthday!
So, after seeing her chuck ice cold water over her own head I didn't really think I could get out of it, I mean, she doesn't have any hair at the moment so that's gotta be much worse than what I'd have to do.
Here's my video for you all to see, and all I have left to say is thanks to Mel for tipping the water as I would have taken forever to chuck it over myself.
Oh, and I have donated to Cancer Council NSW and am nominating my brothers Timmy (The Lion) and Declana, plus Kieran and Mark from Stand Up Paddle Gear Australia and Valentina, Craig and Jason from Million Dollar Fitness.
Although I can hardly believe it, we're just about to celebrate our 1st Birthday, and I'd like to celebrate with you, because Maitri Fitness wouldn't be such a great community without you.
My original idea was to go for drinks after the next Showtime, but the Embrace Life, Live Life Festival is the next day, so I'll need to get my beauty sleep in that night.
I'll set aside an area for us and bring cakes, and might bring down a pole if anyone wants to have a jam. Just let me know.
So, the details are:
Date: Saturday 11th October
Venue: Freshwater Beach BBQ area - on the grass
Details: Bring a dish, drinks, sun screen and your smile!
Invites: Everyone welcome, they don't need to have even heard of Maitri Fitness before. The more the merrier. Kids are welcome.
Please RSVP by 7th October - so I know how many cakes to buy. You can text 0450 121 211 or RSVP via our Facebook event.
p.s. If anyone is actually good at baking - unlike me - and would like to bake us a 1st birthday cake please feel free :)
I'm so pleased to announce that I've been asked to be the Ambassador for the Northern Beaches Embrace Life, Live Life Festivals. The next one in just a round the corner in October and I'd love to see you guys there.
Anyone who enters the Maitri talent Show gets the chance to win 2 tickets to the event, so it's a great reason to perform your own dance the day before the festival!!!
Embrace Life, Live Life is all about community – so they connect local businesses, practitioners and specialists in the holistic health and wellbeing industry, and bring them to you in one location, for one day – so you can immerse yourself in everything this industry can offer.
Throughout the day, there are talks and workshops, access to a selection of treatments and readings, and gorgeous natural and handcrafted products – all under one roof for your convenience.
I'll be there giving a workshop and you might see me swinging from a pole in the exhibition hall too if I have any energy left!
It's an amazing festival and I'd love for you guys to be a part of it. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to offer to spend some time on the exhibition stand with me - this may or may not involve dancing on a pole - your choice ;)
Studying Yoga Therapy has opened my eyes even more to the connections between our body and mind, which I already found fascinating.
So when I was contacted about a new film I thought you guys might be interested to hear about it too.
I'll be going to the Premiere on the 5th September, so drop me a line if you're keen to come with me.
The Connection: Film Premiere
Friday 5th September 8.15pm
After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, journalist and filmmaker Shannon Harvey travelled the world in search of the missing link in healthcare. From interviewing world leading scientists to meeting people with remarkable stories of recovery from severe back pain, heart disease, infertility, cancer and multiple sclerosis - this documentary delves into the link between our mind and body. The Connection is a film that proves we have more to say in our health outcomes than we ever thought possible. The Connection will premiere in Sydney on the 5th of September at the Cremorne Orpheum.

Winter can really take it's toll on our skin and leave us dry, and while we've talked about when to apply moisturiser to the outside, it's equally, if not more, important to mositurise your body from the inside.
There are a few simple things you can do to maintain a good level of moisture in your skin for benefits such as:
1. Drink enough water - space this out through the day. If you guzzle down a litre just before bed because you've forgotten during the day then A, it'll mostly go straight through you and B, you'll have disrupted sleep because you need to go to the toilet.
2. Fill your meals with lots of fresh veggies, fruit and soups.
3. Ensure you have enough carbs and salt in your diet to help absorb the water that you get from drinking and eating.
We're pleased to remind you that there is parking right outside the studio, but please make sure you stick to the parking spots that are marked for us.
We share our car park with the two lovely businesses from downstairs, so please be considerate and make sure you only park in our spaces.
There is plenty of free street parking available just moments away in Girard Street, Waine Street or Rowe Street.
It's hard to believe that our North Manly studio will be turning the grand old age of 1!!!
Although we've been around, under various names, since 2009, we only opened a proper studio in October 2013 so we think that's a great reason to celebrate.
Please save the date of Saturday 18th October to come and celebrate with us because Maitri Fitness is all about having fun and improving our health and wellness together.
More details will follow soon, but it will be after our Talent Show.
During 2nd-27th July your yoga and fitness timetable is being condensed to accommodate for me being overseas.
All Pole Dance term classes remain the same, but during this time there will not be any pole practice sessions scheduled.
Should you have any issues during this time please feel free to text or call my mobile 0450 121 211, which will be monitored by the lovely Angela. Please note that emails during this time will not be monitored.
I'm sure you'll welcome your new teachers, and please make sure you let them know of any injuries or conditions you have, so that they can advise you how to keep safe.
You're welcome to keep spreading the news and bring friends into class while I'm away, it will be lovely to see new faces when I return.
Thank you for understanding that we can't run all the classes during this time. I'll miss you all, but you'll see a brighter, fresher and more relaxed version of me when I get back.
Take care and keep smiling - Stacey xo
